Appliances Online IPO set to net founder £400m

The upcoming IPO of Appliances online (AO.com) is set to boost the founder’s net worth by £400m when the company lists on the London Stock Exchange. Analysts forecast that the online retailer could be worth as much as £1bn when it makes its market debut.

Founder John Roberts will retain a 40pc stake which will see his net worth boosted by £400m should the company successfully list at £1bn.

However, some have expressed concern at such a high valuation for the retailer when larger rivals such as Dixons have a market capitalization of approximately £1.5bn.
