The people of Britain would prefer to bank at places such as Asda and John Lewis (if current accounts were available) rather than dedicated banks such as HSBC and Lloyds.
Results of a poll (based on 1300 people) from USwitch, shown that John Lewis topped well-known brands that people would like to bank with, followed by Waitrose and then Asda. The likes of Amazon and House of Fraser also scored highly.
By contrast, less than one in ten surveyed indicated that their current bank provides good value.
Speak in reference to the survey, a personal finance expert at the comparison website said that it was a ‘telling reflection’ that Britons are willing to put their trust in brands with no experience in banking.
