Cat stock picker outperforms professional fund managers

A cat by the name of Orlando has proven he has superior stock picking potentials to a number of experts within the finance business. An experiment organised by the observer, pitted three teams against each other with £5,000 to invest in 5 companies from the FTSE All-Share Index.

The teams consisted of professionals which included Schroders fund manager Andy Brough, students from a school and Orlando the cat.

At the end of the experiment the following returns were delivered:

Orlando – £5442

Professionals – £5176

Kids – £4840

Orlando the cat picked stocks by throwing a toy mouse on a grid of numbers which corresponded to a number of companies on the FTSE index.
