The FTSE 100 briefly surpassed the 6200 mark for the first time in over four years (May 2008) on Wednesday. The index closed up by over 18 points to finish the day at 6,197.64, but earlier in the day it hit the 6200 mark.
Unilever was one of the top risers on the day on the index, as the company posted underlying sales growth of 6.9 percent during 2012.
This was superior to the growth of 6.5 percent forecast by analysts.
