Football superstar Georgios Karagounis has ruled out the possibility of Greece leaving the Euro and returning to the drachma in a recent interview with the Evening Standard.
The Fulham FC play-maker told the paper that Greece will recover, but will never leave the Euro. He conceded that there have been mistakes with regards to the management of the economy over the past few years, but he will always be proud to Greek.
During the interview he also encouraged the world to respect the contribution that Greece has made to the world to date:
“Greece deserves the highest respect from the world because most of the things that exist in the world were born in Greece: the Olympic Games, democracy, all these things.”
