Twitter set to cash in on user tweets with adverts

Twitter has announced that it will begin to allow advertisers to directly target users based on interests highlighted within their tweets.

The social media site is set to open up its near half-a-billion messages per day to advertisers looking to target users with relevant conversations pertaining to their product or service.

User targeting has been key to social media rival Facebook which allows advertisers to target members based on their ‘likes’ and member data.

Twitters new advertising method will enable advertisers to tweet users with their product or service form a choice of over 350 categories, including areas such as sports.
