Access to Finance Seminar

Wednesday 28 September

8am – 11am

Express Hotel, Junction 5, M5

The current economic recovery is heavily dependent on the growth of businesses in the SME sector. The Government’s Plan for Growth, published alongside the Budget in March 2011, set out to achieve four overarching ambitions for the British economy, including making the UK the best place in Europe to start, finance and grow a business. A vital part of this is ensuring that smaller businesses in particular have access to a wide range of sources of finance. However, many business owners are still unsure what finance or investment is available to assist their growth or how to apply for it. Beer & Partners, a leading Business Angel network with offices in the Midlands, are confronted with this problem on a daily basis.

Roy Irish, Birmingham-based Beer associate has been surprised by recent feedback from local businesses:

“At a time when traditional sources of funding from banks are not apparently as available for the SME sector as it had been before the economic downturn, and with support and advice for businesses being reduced with the national closure of Business Link, we are finding that many local businesses want friendly access to information on what financial support is available and how apply for it.”

Midlands-based entrepreneurs and business owners have the chance to attend a free ‘Access to Finance Seminar’ in Droitwich. This breakfast seminar addresses the issue in detail, by means of a presenter panel of experts from banks, grant specialists and equity providers.Taking place at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Droitwich (just off Junction 5 of the M5), attendees can expect an informal and friendly environment. The combined panel seeks to provide a comprehensive source of information and support to SMEs of all sectors, highlighting the variety of available options for raising funding and getting their businesses off the ground.
