The BBAA Gala Awards Dinner, which will be followed the next day by a national Investment Summit at 1 Moorgate Place, EC2,   has become the focal point of the year for all those interested in the progress of angel investment in the UK, bringing together over 200 representatives of the industry.  The awards this year will focus on key areas of the market where angels have made investments, including angel-backed deals of the year in mobile; clean tech; med tech and social impact investment. BBAA will also be presenting awards for VC-Angel deal of the year and Earlystage team of the year, as well as Angel of the Year to encourage more people to recognise the opportunity to use their financial wealth and business experience to invest in innovating entrepreneurs.

Paul Sizeland, Director of Economic Development at the City of London Corporation, who has extensive experience in international affairs, will also speak on behalf of the City of London. “The City of London Corporation supports the development of small and growing businesses in the City and neighbouring areas, so we are delighted to be involved in this year’s BBAA Awards, celebrating early stage investment which can be transformational for small businesses and start-ups”, said Mr Sizeland.

"We are sponsoring the Angel Investor of the Year award to highlight the difference just one individual investor can make in helping a small business to grow and succeed. We firmly believe that Angel Investing can help underpin economic growth and also support the sense of enterprise that we at the City of London Corporation seek to support both in the City and our neighbouring areas.

"The City of London offers significant support to small businesses; spearheading initiatives like the Innovation Warehouse - a business incubation hub and mentoring facility for start-ups - and Ready to Supply the City – a scheme which helps local businesses enter the high value City supply chain – and we are currently conducting research into social investment to dig deeper into the issue.”

BBAA invites angel investors, VCs, SMEs, advisors and all those working with early stage investing to put forward their nominations to win one of these prestigious awards. The deadline is Monday 20th June for all nominations which will be judged by an expert panel.
