North East Business Angel Network offers a wealth of investment opportunity

18 March 2011

Investor Forum provides a showcase for high-growth and knowledge-based companies to present their investment proposals to an audience of local and national investors as well as entrepreneurs and leading figures from the region's professional services community.

The network which met yesterday evening at one of its regular presentation events, offers a platform for companies to pitch, with recent propositions ranging from renewable wood-chip energy and ethanol rectification to advances in confocal microscopy and newly designed products such as an innovative riding saddle.  The event last night, which saw four companies pitching for investment, was held on Newcastle Quayside and was sponsored by legal services provider Ward Hadaway.

Investor Forum or "Dragons' Den with Manners" as Entrust's Chair David Bowles describes it has never been busier.  More companies than ever are coming forward with exciting business propositions.  The aim is to engage with these high-growth businesses, to develop community and provide an opportunity for them to access financial resources and invaluable business advice, crucial for success.

Entrust's network of investors are like-minded people, all with extensive business experience and capital to invest.  Most are looking to expand their existing portfolio of investments beyond the stock market and managed funds to include unquoted companies and to enjoy the tax advantages under the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS).  However searching alone for companies to invest in is difficult, time consuming and hard work.  Also, operating alone is inherently more risky.

David Bowles, Chair of Entrust comments 'Investor Forum is an established and growing Business Angel Network and we are always keen to welcome new investors on board. Those already involved certainly value the diverse range of opportunities presented to them through the network as well as the tax benefits that this method of investing can offer them.'

We bring together talented people who can maximise shareholder value in companies with significant growth potential.  Network membership is FREE to Business Angels; if you are interested in getting involved with the network please email k.watson@entrust.co.uk for further information and details on upcoming events.

Entrust is a founder member of the British Business Angels Association (BBAA) and has operated Investor Forum, a formal Business Angel Network (BAN), since 1994.  For more information on Investor Forum, visit www.entrust.co.uk.
