BBAA National Investment Summit, 1 July

The 2011 BBAA National Investment Summit , taking place on  1st July, sponsored by Lloyds TSB Commercial and hosted by the ICAEW London Region at the prestigious facilities of the Chartered Accountants Hall, London EC2, is presenting an exciting programme of UK and international expert speakers and panellists.

Key speakers include: Prof Rob Wiltbank, USA, expert on angel and VC investing,will be present his latest findings on Super Angel investing in  Silicon Valley. Serial Angel investors, Alex Hoye and Stefan Glaenzer, co-founder of White Bear Yard and new Passion Capital ECF will look at new models of entrepreneurial investing in the UK. We will also be looking at Tech City, East London, and how the Silicon Valley ecosystem can be re-created in the UK. Expert speakers Hugh Campbell from GP Bullhound and Luke Raskino from Unilever new Business will keep us updated about the latest hot areas for investing including mobile/m-commerce; healthcare and cleantech. We will also hear about the new £2.5bn Business Growth Fund set up by the UK banks and the new £50m Angel Co-investment Fund and how these can be accessed. We will also hear from the North East about the new partnerships and infrastructure measures to support early stage investment in the face of public funding cuts. Richard Anton, from Amadeus and new Chair of BVCA will update us on VC investing in the Year of Venture and Karen Wilson from OECD will tell us about global trends in early stage investing.

BBAA National Awards Dinner, 30 June

The BBAA National Awards event on 30th June, preceding the Summit, offers unrivalled opportunities for networking in the exciting atmosphere of the Museum of London, one of the most uniquely interesting venues of the Capital. This event which is this year sponsored by the City of London Corporation will present six Awards to recognise achievement in investing in the early stage market place.  We are delighted to announce that Mike Lynch, Britain’s most successful software entrepreneur and founder of Autonomy, will be the guest speaker at this Gala Awards event. Lynch (often described as “Britain’s Bill Gates”), has grown Autonomy into an international, $7bn-cap, FTSE 100 business.
